Uber drivers bring luxury behind the wheel for Coachella
Uber drivers put out all the stops for passengers heading to Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
“I get up in the morning, I turn the app on and usually have a hit before I get out of my complex,” Uber driver Houston Robinson said.
Water, mints, sheepskin seat covers and in one car LED lights. Uber drivers take each trip to the next level when it comes to hitting the road.
“People enjoy it and they don’t see it every day,” William Wallace said.
“Taking them out there, they’re stoked, they’re pumped. People ask for an auxillary cord to play their own music in there and they start Coachella before they even get there,” Robinson said.
Robinson has been an Uber driver for eight months with more than 3,000 rides under his hood. His review score peaks at about 4.9 out of 5 stars. He said the lights were an added touch to help passengers.
“People kept losing their phones underneath the seats and there was no lighting to find them so I was just looking to find something that could light up the bottom and then I came across this which went a whole lot further than I planned on,” Robinson said.
After each 100th ride he takes a selfie with passengers to mark the milestone.
William Wallace has been driving for Uber since 2014. His reviews peak about the same with free goodies to greet passengers.
“People really enjoy it. They enjoy the bottled water and really enjoy the mints. They say it’s a nice touch and a lot of people write in about it,” Wallace said.
Both drivers said they get behind the wheel full-time that’s why they said a little investment goes a long way.
“My favorite part about it is getting to meet people from all over the place, all over the world that come to the Valley here to vacation to work. Also believe it or not, I love driving at night when all the drunks are getting out of the bars. I like the idea of getting people home safely,” Robinson said.
“I’m not in it for the money. I’m in it because I really enjoy conversing with people. That’s my social outlet,” Wallace said.
Both drivers said they will are ready for round two of traffic and rides dropping people off to Coachella.
