Coroner identifies 71-year-old Palm Desert man who drowned in a pool

The coroner’s office today released the name of a 71-year-old Palm Desert man who drowned in a swimming pool at a Palm Desert home.

The victim was identified as Richard Mesrobian, according to the coroner’s office.

The drowning was reported about 9 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 46000 block of Ocotillo Drive, where Mesrobian was found at the bottom of a swimming pool, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Mesrobian was pronounced dead at the scene and foul play is not suspected in his death, said Riverside County Sheriff’s, Deputy Armando Munoz.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible drowning after a 71-year-old man was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool in Palm Desert Thursday morning.

Deputies were called to a home in the 46000 block of Ocotillo Drive just after 9 a.m.

Information is preliminary at this point. KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 are working to get more details confirmed. The sheriff’s department continues to investigate and more information is expected to be released in the near future.
