Local group heads to Sacramento to make Calif. sanctuary state

A local group of activists are headed to the state’s capitol, in an effort to make California a sanctuary state.

This weekend, activists of the organization TODEC, which provides services to migrant communities, will be making their way to Sacramento with one goal: to make “SB-54” a reality. It would make California the first sanctuary state in the nation.

The proposed bill has already passed in the states senate and is aimed at limiting state and local police cooperation with federal immigration.
