Palm Springs man arrested for allegedly firing gunshot during argument
A Palm Springs man arrested for allegedly firing a gunshot during an argument at a residence was released from county jail today.
Don Ferreira, 58, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, according to police. He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and released Thursday on $25,000 bail, according to jail records.
The shooting was around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 1600 block of Avenida Olancha, Sgt. William Hutchinson said.
According to the sergeant, Ferreira and someone else at the home were arguing when Ferreira produced a gun and fired a single round “in close proximity of the victim. The victim was able to run from the location and call 911.”
Responding officers found Ferreira still at the scene and placed him under arrest.
Ferreira is scheduled to appear in court in late June.
