Monument Night Adventure event

Saturday night is shaping up to be a warm evening.

If you are looking for something to do, round up the troops and head over to the visitors center at the Santa Rose-San Jacinto National Monument in Palm Desert.

Non-profit organization, Friends of the Desert Mountains, will be hosting a Monument Night Adventure event where attendees can venture into the wilderness for a short night-time walk along the Art Smith Trail. Hikers will be on the lookout for the nocturnal creatures that live in the area. The Astronomical Society of the Desert will have telescopes set up to observe stars, planets and other features of the night sky.

It Is a family-friendly event. Minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Adventure seekers are asked to bring water and wear closed-toed shoes.

Registration begins at 8 p.m. and the program begins at 8:15. If you are interested, call Ada Nuckels for more information at 760-409-9107.
