Three baby hawks fall from nest

Three red tail hawk fledglings were transported to the Coachella Valley Wild Bird Center in Indio Wednesday, after being found around the Coachella Valley on Tuesday.

Officers with the Riverside County Animal Services found two of the fledglings at a golf course at Sun City Palm Desert. They reportedly had fallen out of a nest and the mother did not return for the birds. They ended up at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus Tuesday afternoon.

A third fledging was retrieved by Riverside County Animal Services Officer Hector Palafox in Indio that same Tuesday.

The three fledglings were taken to the county shelter in Thousand Palms, where they were examined and cared for by veterinary staff members.

The Coachella Valley Wild Bird Center specializes in rehabilitating injured birds or birds, such as these fledglings, that are no longer being cared for in a natural manner. The center is located at 46-500 Van Buren St. in Indio, call 760-347-2647 if you see any injured birds.
