Westbound I-10 traffic slows due to early morning big rig crash near Banning

Westbound traffic on Interstate 10 was still moving slowly Thursday afternoon in connection to a big rig accident that occurred early Thursday morning near E. Morongo Trail. The fire happened at 2:41 a.m.

According to a California Highway Patrol log, the number 4 lane was closed while authorities tended to the crash and cleared the road. There were no injuries stemming from the crash.

The tractor disconnected from the trailer and the tow truck couldn’t move it so officers had to leave the big rig in place overnight. The tow truck was still trying to move the big rig Thursday afternoon, according to CHP officers.

All lanes were open but traffic was backed up throughout the day as commuters slowed to check out the crash.
