Tenants concerned about repair delays following fire

Some tenants living in Palm Springs are raising concerns over their safety. A number of fire safety mechanisms have yet to be replaced since a fire broke out at the Marquee apartment complex in May.

One man living at Marquee sent us an email with these photos of a missing fire hose, missing fire extinguisher and fire doors left propped open. The tenant said he’s asked management to replace the equipment several times but has yet to see anything done.

CBS Local 2 and News Channel 3’s Lauren Coronado and Dante Walker went to the apartment complex and found a fire inspector and a property manager inside the building. The manager declined to comment and asked our team to leave the property.

Palm Springs Fire Marshal Rande Ferguson said there are a number of fire safety mechanisms that must be replaced.

According to Ferguson, the property manager is complying and will have most of the equipment fixed or replaced Thursday.

The Marquee is on fire watch until it is deemed safe.
