New program offers support for families caring for older adults

Is your family and/or friends caring for older adults? A new series of the Riverside County Office on Aging’s ‘Care Pathways’ program is being offered in key locations in the Coachella Valley. Officials said classes are taught in both English and Spanish.

According to a release from the Riverside County Office on Aging, the program provides a series of weekly workshops designed to offer information and support to family caregivers who face challenges managing their care-giving responsibilities for a friend or loved one 60 years of age or older.

There are 12 workshops to cover subjects like:

Living with dementia Preventing caregiver burnout Managing medications Talking to the doctor Understanding legal issues Stress prevention Relief and communicating in challenging situations and more

Officials said home care can be arranged for the care recipient if you request respite assistance at the time of registration.
