Rancho Mirage code compliance manager resigns under controversy

A longtime employee of Rancho Mirage has resigned under controversy. According to a city official, Sandra Johnson resigned and is under investigation by the sheriff’s department for financial discrepancies.

According to the sheriff’s department, authorities are investigating an alleged case of embezzlement. However, deputies haven’t released any further details at this time.

Johnson was employed by Rancho Mirage since July of 2006 and her employment ended May 23rd of this year. The city confirmed that her annual salary was $120,580 dollars. We have reached out to the sheriff’s department for a statement and have not received any feedback yet.

No word on what financial issues are under investigation at this time.
