Shelter ‘bully’ dogs make splash at pittie pool party

It was a pitty-party in Desert Hot Springs Saturday afternoon.

The Palm Springs Animal Shelter joined forces with the animal-friendly Desert Hot Springs Inn for a pool party where bully-breed dogs, like pit bulls, were able to escape from the daily grind of shelter life. The love-a-bull canines also got to do fun things like ride in a car, play in the pool and even had individual photo shoots.

“What we’re trying to do is highlight some of our longer term dogs, some of our ‘bully’ type dogs, by giving the a normal dog day outside of the shelter. So we thought, what better way than to have a pool party,” said Manny Guerra, a behavior manager for the shelter.

All of the dogs in attendance are up for adoption for $20 for the month of July.
