Palm Desert man accused of grand theft at mall totaling $5K-$10K
A man was in custody Tuesday on suspicion of grand theft for allegedly stealing merchandise at the Westfield Palm Desert mall in June.

Michael Decanto Salas, 25, was arrested Monday in connection with the June 18 thefts, which investigators later tracked to Salas, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Matthew Koser. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 that Salas is accused of stealing items valued between $5,000 to $10,000.
A search warrant was served Monday at Salas’ home, “where suspected stolen property was located and collected,” Koser said. The specific items and exact dollar value of the merchandise wasn’t disclosed. nor
We also aren’t sure which stores were targeted by the alleged thief. Investigators are working to see what was recovered from the suspect’s home and if any of the items are still unclaimed.
Salas was booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio, where he was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
