Landing gear buckles on small airplane landing at Palm Springs International Airport

The pilot of a small aircraft wasn’t hurt after the landing gear on his plane buckled as he was trying to land at the Palm Springs International Airport Thursday afternoon.

The airplane landed on its belly and slid for a bit before coming to a rest, airport officials told KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2’s Joe Galli. The small aircraft has been removed from the tarmac and no flights are impacted following the accident.

An investigation into the failed landing gear is underway Thursday afternoon.
