3 cities left to compete in Nine Cities Blood Drive Challenge

The City of Indio is looking at the title for LifeStream’s Nine Cities Blood Drive Challenge for the third year in a row, but officials said Rancho Mirage and Desert Hot Springs are looking to play spoiler this year.

According to LifeStream’s updated news release, more than 400 units of blood have been collected so far at “Nine Cities” drives; the City of Palm Desert tops the leaderboard with 93 units. But Rancho Mirage, Indio and Desert Hot Springs will have the final say as to which city earns the “traveling plaque” signifying victory.

The final three drives: Rancho Mirage: Wednesday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 71-100 Highway 111; Indio: Thursday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Teen Center, 81678 Avenue 46; Desert Hot Springs: Saturday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Health and Wellness Center, 11750 Cholla Drive.

If you want to get involved with the effort to help make your city “number one in compassion” in the Coachella Valley, walk-ins are welcome at all drives but appointments are suggested and may be made by calling 1.800.879.4484 or by visiting LStream.org.
