The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of an inmate at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. Deputies said the man was found unresponsive just before 12:30 Sunday morning within the intake area of the jail. Life-saving measures were taken and medical personnel were called, but the man later died.
