Michele Hottel shares her clients’ beautiful home in Mount Helix

Have You Ever Met a Woman Architect Before? We’re lucky to know Michele Grace Hottel, owner of her namesake architecture and design firm and host of the “I’ve Never Met a Woman Architect Before” podcast. Michele has been a PIRCH client for several years, and they’re excited to showcase one of her recently completed projects in the San Diego area.

Michele started her practice about 30 years ago, and typically works on custom residential remodels and additions, as well as new build homes. “I’m inspired by so many things as an architect,” says Michele. “I look at the site, the climate, and the context of the project. Also, working with the client and trying to involve their personalities, really making the project unique and their own.”

The project on Mount Helix, owned by Tom and Barbara Hensley was an existing, multi-level, mid-century modern home. Tom and Barbara wanted to remodel several rooms in the home, including the kitchen and the primary bathrooms. They also wanted to add a pool house with an outdoor kitchen. “The homeowners have been in this house for a while, and they like to enjoy the holidays here with their adult children,” explains Michele. “They had a clear idea of what they wanted.”

Michele enjoys visiting PIRCH showrooms to window shop and seeing all the new products and appliances on display. “I was fortunate to bring the Hensley’s into PIRCH, and they chose a lot of wonderful plumbing fixtures, fittings, and appliances, which really made their project wonderful,” explains Michele.

“I think it’s great to be able to take my clients into PIRCH and have them look at the different faucets,” says Michele. “I love how the water actually works in the faucets and you can see the products installed in a kitchen, so it gives the client a better idea of what things are going to look like!” To continue reading about this project, click here.
