Manslaughter Parolee Found With Stolen Car, Police Say

A Thousand Palms man who police say is on parole for a manslaughter conviction is in jail after Palm Springs Police say he was found with a stolen vehicle.

Officers arrested 36-year-old Peter Maraz after a short foot pursuit.

Police say they received a call around 9 PM Tuesday night of a suspicious vehicle in the 1200 block of South Palm Canyon.

Officers say the vehicle was reported stolen after running a check on the license plate.

When police arrived on scene, Meraz fled on foot, but was found a short time later hiding under a vehicle in a nearby parking lot.

Meraz was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and parole violation.

He is being held in the Palm Springs Jail without bail.
