Palm Desert High School Lockdown Lifted

Authorities have lifted a lockdown at Palm Desert High School after rumors that a former student may have been on campus with a gun.

The lockdown was ordered at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The move was taken in response to a rumor that a former student may have come to the campus with a gun, said Desert Sands Unified School District Superintendent Doris Wilson.

Sheriff’s deputiesconducted a sweep through the campus. No word on any arrests.

Therewere no injuries in the lockdown.

The emergency also prompted school district officials to lockdown other campuses in the district as a precaution.
