New Home Furnishing Store To Open In Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS – Design Within Reach, a home furnishing store, willopen within the next 10 days in the recently restored El Paseo Plaza in downtown Palm Springs, it was announced Monday.

The operators of the store signed a long-term lease to be the anchor tenant of the 20,436-square-foot, two-story building at 800 N. Palm Canyon Drive.

Mayor Steve Pougnet said the project combines “historic buildings into a new and vibrant retail complex which we expect will even further revitalize the area.”

Design Within Reach is a national furniture retailer that sells 20th century classic designs, said Matt Wilkerson, vice president of the company. He said the national chain has always had clients from Palm Springs, who previously had to travel to Los Angeles or purchase items online.

Other tenants of El Paseo Plaza include the studio and gallery of artist James Jensen, Interior Illusions and the Case Wine Lounge.
