Amber Alert Issued For LA-Area Children

ALTADENA – A woman who apparently wrote a suicide note and disappeared with her two sons from their Altadena home, prompting the issuance of a statewide Amber Alert, were found safe in Mexico Friday night, authorities said.

Lisa Vigil Ruelas, 38, and her sons, Gabriel, 10, and Evan Ruelas, 5, were found in Mexico, Deputy Ed Hernandez of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.

The details of the trio’s discovery were not immediately released, but all three were found safe and unharmed, according to the sheriff’s department.

The woman and her children were last seen around 3 p.m. Thursday, and when sheriff’s deputies conducted a welfare check at the family home laer in the day, no one was home, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

An Amber Alert was issued for the missing children after detectives received information that the woman planned to commit suicide after taking the lives of her two sons, authorities said.
