First Lady Visits DC Social Services Center

WASHINGTON – First lady Michelle Obama says it is important to think about where you’ve come from and how you can give back.

Mrs. Obama visited a social services center in the heart of Washington on Tuesday. She read a book to toddlers and had a round-table discussion with a group of teenagers who participate in programs at the center.

After one teenager asked why she came to visit, the first lady said she was raised to believe that what you get, you give back.

She said now that Washington is her home, she wants to get out and know the community and its people.

Another teenager asked what it’s like to be first lady. Mrs. Obama replied that she’s still trying to figure it out but she is excited and honored.
