A Riverside man was among the 49 passengers and crew killed on a commuter flight that crashed in Buffalo, New York, airline officials confirmed Friday.
Clay Yarber, 62, was aboard Continental Connection Flight 3407 when it crashed into a house in foul weather, roughly 5 miles from Buffalo Niagara International Airport, shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the airline.
A 50th person who was in the house died on the ground. Yarber was originally from Dayton, Ohio, and lived in Tampa Bay, Fla., for several decades before moving to Riverside recently to live with his son.
He served with the Marine Corps in Vietnam, and after the war played guitar for several bands, according to published reports.
He was heading to Buffalo to visit a friend.
Yarber is survived by three daughters and a son.
