Road Closures And Traffic Information
The California Highway Patrol is reporting a boulder on state Route 62 north of Palm Springs and Interstate 10.
A road crew is working to clear the rock, which may have caused a wreck.
The California Highway Patrol is now requiring chains on Highway 243, the only paved road through Idyllwild and Pine Cove.
Idyllwild Firefighter Scott Carlson says the R-1 chain restrictions were imposed about 10:20 a.m., as snow started falling in Pine Cove and farther east in the mountains.
Rain is reported along state Route 74. In addition to whatever today’s storm brings, residual ice and snow from previous storms remains on parts of Highway 243, says Idyllwild Firefighter Scott Carlson.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 15 have just been re-opened and traffic is moving slowly in both directions up and down the Cajon Pass, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher in San Bernardino says.
