Man Arrested After Explosion, Fire At Palm Springs Condo

PALM SPRINGS- A 41-year-old man was behind bars Monday on suspicion of causing an explosion and fire inside a Palm Springs condominium, authorities said.

Ronald Cardell Grant was arrested Sunday afternoon on suspicion of arson, said Deputy Fire Marshall Cameron Robbins. The Palm Springs resident was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to jail records.

Firefighters responded at 1:45 p.m. to a report of a fire at a second-floor unit at Canyon Country Club Estados in the 2100 block of South Palm Canyon Drive, Robbins said.

Grant was found inside the unit and was taken in for questioning, according to Robbins, who said no injuries were reported.

The cause of the explosion and fire was under investigation.
