Two Dead In Rancho Mirage Traffic Collision

RANCHO MIRAGE – Two motorists died in a traffic collision just after midnight Friday after a van and a motorcycle collided in a major intersection, police said.

Initial reports showed amotorcycle traveling eastbound on Gerald Ford Dr. collided with a Ford Windstar van traveling north on Bob Hope Dr.

The motorcyclist, identified as 28-year-old Alexander Hamilton of Bermuda Dunes, smashed into the van, colliding with its driver, identified as Sergio Calderon, 55, of Cathedral City. Both men were killed, police said.

The cause of thecollision wasstill under investigation later Friday morning, and police askedanyone who might have witnessed the question to come forward.

Bob Hope and Gerald Ford were closed in the area overnight, but reopened to rush-hour traffic around 6:20 a.m. Friday.
