Driver Killed On Interstate 10 In Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS- A motorist killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 10 in Palm Springs was identified Tuesday as a 37-year-old La Quinta resident.

Sean Blomquist, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the crash scene on westbound I-10, just east of Indian Avenue, about 8:20 p.m. Monday, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.

For unknown reasons, Blomquist slammed on the brakes of his GMC Sonoma pick-up truck, which was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Cobalt, said Officer Ramon Perez of the California Highway Patrol.

Blomquist then lost control of his truck, which struck the center divider and rolled several times, throwing him from the vehicle, Perez said.

The other driver was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries, Perez said.

The crash was under investigation.
