Fred Waring Road Work To Slow Drivers Heading To Tennis Tourney

Continued road work on Fred Waring in La Quinta could slow down drivers en route to the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens during the BNP Paribas Open.

The La Quinta city officials say major construction is for the section of Fred Waring from Adams Street to Washington Street.

The upcoming work will not permit East or Westbound turns onto Palm Royale Drive from Fred Waring. This will occur Monday 3/9/09 – Friday 3/13/09. Alternate routes should be used.

Westbound traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane between Adams and Washington Streets.

Beginning on Sunday night, 3/15/09, through Friday, 3/20/09; the Palm Royale intersection will be open to Eastbound left turns only and traffic will again be reduced to one lane Westbound to Washington. Left turns to Washington will not be permitted. There will be only one thru lane and one right turn only lane Westbound at Washington St. during improvements to remove and replace asphalt in the turn pocket and thru-lane areas.

Signs have been posted on Fred Waring warning the public of the upcoming work. Eastbound lanes from Palm Royale to Adams should continue with two open lanes except for occasional temporary reductions to one lane.

The project is expected to continue through April.
