Apparent Shooting Victim In Desert Hot Springs Dies

Police are continuing their investigation after a shooting that left a Desert Hot Springs man dead on the steps of an apartment complex.

It’s the third murder in the same neighborhood in just the past five weeks.

The Riverside County Coroner identified the victim as Edward Ross Lopez, 28.

Witnesses say they heard five shots Thursday night at 7:45 on the 68-200 block of Calle Las Tiendas.

Residents of the apartment complex found Lopez bleeding on their front steps.

An ambulance rushed him to Desert Regional Medical Center where he died less than an hour later.

Some residents say they’re planning to leave the neighborhood because of the increasing crime.

Police said the suspect in Thursday night’s shooting was described as being in his late teens to early 20s, around 5 feet 8 inches and thin. He drove off in a dark colored mini van.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Desert Hot Springs police at (760) 329-2904.
