Home Invasion Murder Suspect Nabbed; One More Sought
DESERT HOT SPRINGS- Authorities stepped up their search Wednesday for one of three siblings suspected in the deadly shooting of a man at his Desert Hot Springs home last month.
Lavenski Shamone Harrell, 27, of Oakland, was identified as a suspect by police last week in the Feb. 23 shooting death of Samuel Raye Cotton.
Harrell’s two siblings, Latoya Shontrice Jenkins, 23, and Curtis Lee Drake, 19, are already in custody.
Police found Cotton’s body at his home in the 68100 block of Calle Azteca. He had been shot once in the upper body.
Jenkins, of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested Saturday in New Jersey, according to police. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office was working to get her extradited to face charges.
Drake, who was arrested Feb. 26 in Cathedral City, is being held without bail at the sheriff’s jail in Blythe. He is due back in court on April 10 for a felony settlement conference.
