Cathedral City Firefighters Say ‘Get Prepared For Disasters’

CATHEDRAL CITY – Residents of Cathedral Cove aren’t leaving it to chance when a wildfire or earthquake hits.On Thursday night,dozens took a proactive approach with the help of some Cathedral City firefighters.

Firefighters say you need to make your house fire-ready.This means clear a 100-foot radius around your home of brush and dead vegitation.

Cathedral City Cove resident Scott Leider is already clearing brush away from his home.

“This is our home. We don’t want to lose everything we have,especially in this economy,” Leider said. “It’s the only thing we have and we don’t want to lose itto a wildfire.”

Wildfires aren’t the only diasters the Coachella Valley sees. Firefighters say be ready for earthquakes and floodsby having a lot of water and food on hand. They say everyone should have a plan and know how to execute it.
