Head Of La Quinta AYSO Replaced

LA QUINTA – News Channel 3 confirmed Thursday the national AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) office suddenly replaced La Quinta’s regional commissioner.

This comes after the league tried and failed to reach her and ask her questions about undisclosed accounting issues.

News Channel 3 learned the former commissioner, Sharon Schumaier, co-owns Desert Cities Automotive in Indio. We tried to reach her, but her husband says she was unavailable.

The new acting commissioner assured parents Thursday that their children’s soccer season will go forward as planned.

“We’re going to keep things as positive as possible. We service about 1,800 kids and we want to be able to get them out here on the the fields, enjoying themselves, and let anything else that’s related to the running of the league to be behind the scenes and something that doesn’t affect them,” says acting commissioner Andrew Nielsen.

The national AYSO is still trying to reach Schumaier for questioning. They’re calling this entire episode “very unusual.”
