Prostitution Sting Nets La Quinta Police Many Arrests
LA QUNITA – The owner and two employees of Point Happy Massage Therapy on Highway 111 and Washington Streethave been arrested for pimping, prostitution and meth possession.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 42 year-old Mei Wang was arrested for pimping. Wai Lau, 32, of Indio was arrested by La Quinta Police for prostitution. The owner, 37 year old Charlie Wong is under arrest for methamphetamine possession.
The prostitution sting took place at 6:30p.m. Tuesday. Two undercover officers walked into parlor and according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Melissa Nieburger, “There was an offer of sexual favors for money”.
The prostitution investigation started in late August after the police department received several phone calls fromconcerned residents sayingmore than just massages were being given at the massage parlor.
Police officers spent much of Tuesday night gathering evidence and executing a drug search warrant. La Quinta police officers say they are looking at other massage parlors aspossibly being places of prostitution.
