Palm Springs Man Pleads ‘Not Guilty’ To Faking Military Service

RIVERSIDE – A Palm Springs man accused of impersonating a military officer has pleaded “not guilty” to the charges in a Riverside federal courtroom.

Steven Burton was seen and photographed on several occasions, wearing military uniforms and various medals, despite the fact he’s never served in the military. The medals included the Navy Cross, which is the highest awardgiven by the Department of the Navy,and the Purple Heart, which is given to those wounded in action or killed.

Burton is free on $10,000 bond, and could facea year in federal prison if convicted.
