Shopping Safety During The Holidays

PALM DESERT – Over the nextmonth, shoppers will spend hours at local malls and shopping centers. What’s lurking in the packed parking lots could be putting you and your possessions in danger. You may not think about it,but every holiday season thieves prey on shoppers.Purse snatchingsand car break-ins rise each season.

Some people like Jeanie Brazil suggest shopping in pairs and watching your surroundings.Brazil says, “I lock my purse up to the cart using the childsafety seat, so when they try to take it, they can’t”.

While your safety is important so are your possessions. Experts say don’t leave your purchases in plain view. Instead, put them in the trunk or cover them up. Visible items are an invitation for would-be thieves.

Shopping centers and malls provide security guards, but in the end, it’s up to you to protect yourself.
