Saturday Storm Adds To Desert Beauty
PALM SPRINGS- Palm Springs residents basked in the aftermath of the first major rain of the season and their Thanksgiving weekend glimpse of snow in local mountains, and meteorologists said more rain is possible next week.
After a rainstorm Saturday that dumped a half-inch of rain in the area, Palm Springs residents and visitors returned to outdoor patios of cafes.
Chris Martins, manager of Peabody’s Coffee Bar on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, said it was business as usual, almost.
“Yesterday morning the rain drove everybody into the restaurant, but not today,” he said. “We had the heaters on all day out on the patio, and customers had their jackets on. They were willing to be outside, but it was breezy enough to keep their sweaters and jackets on.”
The weather in Palm Springs was cloudy Sunday with highs just above 50 degrees and a light sprinkling of rain.
Monday is expected to heat up to 72 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The rest of the week in the Coachella Valley is expected to be clear and dry, with highs hovering around 70 degrees all week.
“It’s looking like we might be jumping into the storm track next week starting Monday, around December 7th and 8th, said Mark Moede of the Weather Service. “But there are still a lot of questions as to where the rain will make landfall.”
