Man Accused Of Stealing Cows From Cabazon Tribe

CABAZON -Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man for investigation of stealing cattle from Southern California’s Morongo Indian reservation.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says 47-year-old Steven Seick of Cherry Valley was booked Tuesday on six counts of grand theft of cattle after an investigation that began last month.

The alleged thefts involved five cows, a bull and three calves.

A sheriff’s press release says there was an attempt to sell the cattle through an auction house by applying brands that looked legitimate, but inspectors recognized the cattle as a unique breed owned by the Morongo Cattleman Association.

Seick remains in jail and there is no phone listing for his residence.

A juvenile believed involved in the case was released to his parents.
