Burglar Runs Off After Homeowner Walks In

PALM DESERT -A man who tried to break into a home in Palm Desert, but was interrupted by a homeowner, was at large today, a sheriff’s sergeant said.

The burglary was reported at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 40000 block of Sterling Drive, said Sgt. T. White of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The homeowner caught the man burglarizing his home, White said.

The homeowner was not sure if anything was taken, according to the sergeant.

The burglar was described as about 29 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and 160 pounds, with short hair and wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information about the burglar was asked to call Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
