Car Plows Into Indio Home

INDIO -A suspected drunk driver is behind bars after plowing through the garage of an Indio home overnight.

The suspect was allegedly speeding when he jumped the curb at the corner of Albion Drive and Almond Place about 12:30, this morning.

Alex Rivera says the car went airborne, and smashed through his garage door.

The suspect’s vehicle and the two inside the garage are all severely damaged.

Rivera says he tried to help the man inside, but says thehe then tried to run.

“I tried to help him, but he ended up fighting me,” Rivera said.”I had to hold him down until the police got here.”

Rivera sustained injuries to his hand after the scuffle.

Indio police haven’t released any details on the suspect, his condition, or what charges he could face.
