Missing Plane Found With Passengers Still Alive
JOSHUA TREE – A pilot and student were found alive in a small airplane that crashed in the Joshua Tree National Forest late Monday night.
The plane was en route from Twentynine Palms to Palm Springs International Airport Monday morning when the pilot radioed for help, and disappeared from radar.
Crews were forced to search on the ground because the bad weather kept rescue aircraft from flying above the forest.
At 10:30pm, crews found the plane and the passengers hanging upside down, and had to be cut from the wreckage. Both were suffering from hypothermia, and were airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Their identities have not been released.
