Twentynine Palms Hospital Workers Head To Haiti
TWENTYNINE PALMS -Twenty staff members from the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital are preparing to deploy to Haiti as part of the United States Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief efforts in the aftermath of Haiti’s devastating earthquake.
“The dedicated staff of the Naval Hospital selected for this mission considers it a great privilege to support the people of Haiti in the aftermath of this tragic devastation,” said Captain Michael Moeller, Executive Officer of the medical command that serves the Marines, Sailors, Retirees and family members of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.
“I am very proud of the caliber and fortitude of the personnel we are sending. The staff who are remaining behind will continue to provide the best possible medical care to our beneficiaries.”
The duration of this deployment is unknown at this time.
“We will make every effort to reduce the impact to our patients and ask the community for their patience and understanding during these deployments,” Moeller added.
Supporting civil authorities with military capabilities that can help stabilize and improve the situation in the wake of natural and man-made disasters is a core Navy mission.
The assistance provided by our staff reflects our nation’s compassion and commitment to those impacted by this earthquake, and our efforts demonstrate that the U.S. is an enduring partner long after the immediate emergency is over.
These deployed staff members will be assigned to an Emergency Medical Facility (EMF) in Haiti, and a Casualty Receiving and Treatment Ship (CRTS).
