‘Stop Action Trend’ Reaches Southern California
RIVERSIDE -The “stop action” trend has traveled from YouTube and into the Southland, prompting students to “freeze” on cue.
At noon, the area around the bell tower at the University of California Riverside was bustling with the kind of energy you’ll find at most college campuses.
But at 12:04 p.m., approximately 200 students quite literally stopped in their tracks at the order, “Everybody freeze!”
The energy went out of the picture, and almost everybody responded to the cue to freeze. Most did.
“I think it’s an interesting thing to be a part of. On the Facebook event page, it said that about 900 people were going to be attending, so if that’s true, it would be cool to be a part of something where everybody is just frozen,” said UCR student Simone Khoubia.
After four minutes, the participants became unfrozen and moved along to their next class. Many, for some reason, said they felt good.
“I do feel better. It just makes the monotony of college life a lot better. Just doing something different just out of the ordinary with everyone feeling united,” said another student Eviola Kakhla.
The participants would be excellent students in the school of drama, dance and even psychology. We probably have not heard the last of the freeze.
