Plans For Toyota Gas Pedal Fix Due Monday

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Toyota’s plan for a fix to its huge recall problem is coming Monday.

The head of the automaker’s North American sales division, Jim Lentz, is scheduled to appear on NBC’s “Today” show to detail the company’s plans, which have been approved by federal regulators.

Toyota yesterday used ads in newspapers to characterize the halt in sales and production as a “temporary pause” to put customers “first.” The ads don’t detail the fix for faulty gas pedal systems that led to the recall of more than 4 millions cars and trucks. The recall spread over the weekend to include 100,000 cars made by France’s largest automaker Peugeot Citroen alongside Toyota.

Federal regulators say they’ve opened an investigation into the manufacturer of the faulty gas pedals.
