Interstate Construction Makes A Mess Of Commute

PALM DESERT – Traveling eastbound on Interstate 10, this morning, made for a very long commute for a lot of travelers.

Construction between Monterrey and Washington caused a backup that at times stretched all the way to the Date Palm exit.

Journeys that usually take minutes turned into 30-45 minute excursions.

CalTrans tells News Channel 3 that eastbound I-10 between Monterey and Washington will have the #2 and #3 lanes closed between 8am and 7pm. That means the evening commute eastbound will be just as congested.

Workers are repairing pavement that was damaged by the rainstorms two weeks ago.

The California Highway Patrol suggests people pack their patience when traveling that route, or take city streets to avoid the area altogether.
