PALM SPRINGS -A 13-member delegation from Asan City, South Korea, will visit Palm Springs today as part of an effort to spur foreign trade and create education partnerships in the Coachella Valley.

The delegation, which is led by Asan City Mayor Kang Hee-Bok, will arrive at Palm Springs City Hall at 3 p.m. and be greeted by Mayor Steve Pougnet and the City Council.

“The city of Palm Springs is honored to host this delegation from Asan City, and we look forward to showcasing all of the opportunities we have to offer in terms of cultural, educational and economic partnerships,” Pougnet said.

The mayor said both cities are resort destinations.

The delegation will get an overview of Palm Springs, and Hee-Bok will talk about his community, said city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell.

On Tuesday, the delegation will tour the College of the Desert’s new Desert Energy Enterprise Center, where they will hear presentations on renewable energy and clean technology opportunities.

The day will conclude with the signing of a friendship agreement between the two cities atop the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Blaisdell said.
