Man Arrested For November Robbery In Desert Hot Springs
DESERT HOT SPRINGS -A man was arrested today on suspicion of his involvement in the Nov. 6 robbery of a man whose car broke down in Desert Hot Springs, police reported.
Robert Steinruck, 34, was arrested on King Street in Indio about 10:15a.m. on suspicion of robbery, Desert Hot Springs police Sgt. Dan Bressler said.
Three men with semiautomatic rifles robbed a man, whose vehicle had broken down on Don English Way north of Hacienda Avenue early on Nov. 6, Bressler said. The robbers took the victim’s passport, $50 in cash and his cell phone, according to Bressler.
Steinruck was arrested the next day but released, because investigators did not have enough evidence to hold him, he said.
On Tuesday, investigators got a warrant for Steinruck’s arrest and picked him up this morning. He is tentatively set to be arraigned Friday.
The other two suspects were described as being in their 20s and wearing dark clothing. They were driving a white Volkswagen Jetta during the robbery, police said.
Anyone with more information about the crime was asked to call police at (760) 329-6411.
