Kindness Sweeps The Valley As Girls Battle Bullying

RANCHO MIRAGE – It’s happening all around the nation, girl-against-girl violence or bullying. The cattiness, competition and hate shatters self-esteem and damages lives.

“It’s a serious issue that results in attempted suicide, eating disorders and depression,” says Lauren Parsekian, Co-Founder of “Be Kind”.

Bullying effects every female of every age.

“This is not something that stops when we get out of school, it continues on,” says Molly Stroud, Co-Founder of “Be Kind”.

The hurtful words and actions move from the playground to the work place.

“It’s an apparent thing that happens every day,” says Parsekian.

Lauren Parsekian and Molly Stroud are fighting back. They’re launching “The Kind Campaign” and documenting painful stories of bullying from women around the country. They’re taking a message of kindness into schools, holding presentations for girls of all ages. On Friday, they went to Marywood Palm Valley for their first stop in the desert.

” I feel really bad for all that has happened, both by me and to me,” says Marywood Palm Valley Freshman, Emily Goble.

Part of the campaign is to teach all females they are not alone. Young girls and women deal with bullying. Most have been on both sides, receiving and giving. So at each presentation, the girls get a chance to apologize to the girls they’ve hurt by writing it down on a “kind apology” sheet.

” I wrote that I was sorry I didn’t stick up for her when people spread rumors,” says Kelsey Mezrahi, Marywood Palm Valley, Junior.

In the short 45 minute presentation relationships are mended as every girl realizes they’re all in the battle together and the only way to win, is to unite.
