Chris Miller
Chris is a “Colorado Boy”, who feels most at home snowboarding and fly-fishing at his childhood home in the Rocky Mountains, but now that he lives here, he enjoys playing tennis, working on his golf game and swimming year round.
Chris comes to the Desert Valley from Grand Junction, Colorado, where he was Sports Director at KKCO-TV. While there, he helped create an award-winning show at the Junior College World Series and occasionally covered games and practice for the Denver Broncos. He’s also reported and anchored news, but says he prefers to be involved with the sports world.
Growing up in an airline family, Chris had the opportunity to travel all over the world. His favorite adventures include, hitch-hiking in New Zealand and Australia, as well as visits to Egypt and the Holy Land. He also joined a missionary team on an excursion into the jungles of Southeast Asia. His passion for travel has helped create the type of person Chris is today, a self-declared “minimalist”. The travel bug still inspires him today, but a career in television doesn’t permit the time to explore as much as he’d like. However, being a sportscaster affords him other exciting opportunities, like interviewing tennis players at the BNP Paribas Open or reporting from the Chargers’ game.
Chris is a former college football player who attended Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington, where he earned a degree in print journalism while working for the Associated Press. He always dreamed of writing for National Geographic, but his other passion, sports, took his life in a different direction.
In his free time, Chris most enjoys spending time with his wife, Elyse.
