Man Arrested After Leading Police On Quad-Motorcycle Chase

CATHEDRAL CITY -A parolee suspected of leading police on a brief pursuit in Cathedral City while riding an off-highway quad motorcycle was in custody today, police said.

Joe Weldon Abner, 38, of Palm Springs, was arrested around 5 p.m. Thursday in the area of Rio Vista Drive and Avenue Quintana, said Sgt. Andy Diaz of the Cathedral City Police Department.

Abner crashed into a small tree on the side of the road and was launched off the bike, Diaz said.

Police determined that Abner was a parolee-at-large wanted on a no-bail warrant, according to Diaz.

The parolee was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment, the sergeant said.
