LA QUINTA– The Homewood Suites by Hilton hotelopened back up January 19th. They’d been closed since August 26th of last yearbecause theFDIC closed the banks the owners borrowed from.

The hotel’s General Manager, Brad Poncher says, “We scrambled to get it open, we had the contract signed in December and wereback open by mid-January.

The hotel is back open just in time to cash in on the BNP Paribas Tennis tournament. It is booked full this weekend.

The hotel also brings in it’s own revenue for the City of La Quinta. Each year the hotel generates $300,000 worth of tax revenue.

Peter Bellas has stayed at the 129-room Homewood Suites before, he’s back this weekend. Bellas says, “We love the bigger rooms, we love the breakfast and the company is okay.”

Poncher says the best part of being back open is hiring back the employees he had to layoff and seeing guest walk through the front doors.
