Palm Desert Man Robbed While Talking On Cell Phone

Three people who tried to rob a man who was talking on his cell phone in Palm Desert remained at large today.

The attempted robbery was reported at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday in the area of California Drive and Warner Trail, said Sgt. Dave Smith of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim told deputies the men approached him as he was on the phone, Smith said.

One of the suspects took out a knife, while another man demanded the victim’s property, according to Smith.

After a brief struggle, the suspects fled the area on foot, the sergeant said.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Palm Desert sheriff’s station at (760) 836-1600.
